1. Acceptance
By creating a ChefVault account, downloading the ChefVault apps, joining the early-access mailing list, or otherwise using the products provided by ChefVault, Inc. (collectively, "ChefVault" or "the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service. We won't take it personally.
These Terms apply to everything we operate: the chefvault.app website, the chefvault.org redirect, the iOS app, the Android app, the web application, and any future product we ship under the ChefVault name.
2. Account registration
You can use parts of the website (this page, for instance) without an account. To use the app and sync your recipes, you'll need an account. You agree to provide accurate information when you sign up, to keep your password secure, and to be responsible for everything that happens under your account.
You must be at least thirteen years old to create an account (sixteen in the European Economic Area). One human, one account. Don't impersonate other people. Don't sell your account.
3. Your license to use ChefVault
ChefVault grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your own cooking, baking, household, and non-commercial professional use (including running a small home bakery or a one-person catering business).
All of the underlying software, design, branding, content, and intellectual property is owned by ChefVault, Inc. and licensed to you under these Terms. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, or build a competing service on top of our infrastructure.
4. Your content
Recipes, photos, notes, and any other content you add to ChefVault are yours. You retain all rights and ownership. We don't sell them, we don't share them, and we don't train AI models on them.
To operate the Service, you grant ChefVault a limited license to host, store, transmit, back up, and display your content to you (and to anyone you explicitly share it with). That license ends when you delete the content or your account.
If you publish a recipe to a public ChefVault collection (a feature we may introduce later), you grant other users a license to view, save, and use it for personal cooking. You can revoke this at any time by un-publishing.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Break any law or regulation.
- Upload malicious code, attempt to gain unauthorized access, or interfere with the Service.
- Harass other users, spam, or distribute hate speech.
- Infringe anyone else's copyright (e.g., uploading entire copyrighted cookbooks).
- Scrape the Service in bulk or use it to build a competing recipe app.
- Mislead anyone about the source or authorship of recipes you share.
- Use the Service in any way that puts food safety at risk for others (the Service is a recipe tool, not a food-safety authority).
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules. We will try to warn you first.
6. Subscriptions & pricing
ChefVault offers a free tier and a paid subscription. The paid subscription unlocks features like unlimited recipe storage, sync across more than two devices, advanced scaling, and cloud backup. Pricing is shown in the app and on the website at the point of purchase.
Subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play are billed by those platforms under their standard terms (typically auto-renewing monthly or annually, cancellable in your platform's subscription settings). Subscriptions purchased through our website are billed by ChefVault directly.
We may run promotional offers, founder-pricing programs, or early-access discounts. Those offers are honored for the duration we promised when you signed up, even if standard pricing changes later.
7. Cancellation & refunds
You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings (or from the App Store / Google Play if you subscribed there). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep premium features through the end of the period you've already paid for.
We offer pro-rated refunds for annual subscriptions cancelled within the first thirty days, unless prohibited by the platform store's policy. Email gentlemanhypnotist@gmail.com with a refund request and we'll process it within a few business days.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
ChefVault is provided "as is" and "as available." We try hard to make it accurate, available, and useful, but we don't promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly suited to your particular recipe needs. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
About food and cooking: ChefVault is a recipe management tool. It is not a food-safety authority, an allergen registry, or a nutrition-medical-advice service. Use your judgment when cooking. Verify allergens. Confirm internal temperatures. Don't feed raw chicken to children just because the app didn't yell at you.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ChefVault, Inc., its founder, and its officers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost data, or ruined dinner parties — arising out of your use of the Service.
Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the Service is capped at the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars.
Some jurisdictions don't allow these exclusions or limitations. In those places, the above applies to the maximum extent permitted by law.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ChefVault, Inc. and its founder from any third-party claim arising out of (a) your misuse of the Service, (b) your violation of these Terms, or (c) content you upload that infringes someone else's rights.
11. Termination
You can stop using ChefVault any time by deleting your account from settings. We can suspend or terminate your access if you materially violate these Terms — typically with notice and a chance to fix the problem, except in cases involving security, fraud, or legal compulsion.
On termination, you keep your content (we provide an export) and we delete our copy per the retention schedule in our Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as the product evolves. When we do, we'll change the effective date at the top and email subscribers about material changes. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms. If you don't, you can cancel.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute relating to the Service will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Texas, and you and ChefVault each consent to that jurisdiction.
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. Our failure to enforce any term is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
14. Contact
Questions, concerns, refund requests, takedown notices, press inquiries, or just an "I love this" email — all of them go to:
Thank you for using ChefVault. Now go make something good.
